velta contec system – concrete core
activation Heating and cooling applications utilising
the thermal mass of the building
The velta contec system
goes further than heating and cooling in screeds by utilising
the main thermal mass of the building. By embedding the robust
velta 20mm PE-Xa pipes into the structure itself and controlling
the core temperature of the building mass, the internal environment
of the building is automatically controlled.
If the building surfaces are warmer than
the room – the velta contec heating system
If the building surfaces are cooler than
the room – the velta contec cooling system
Ideally suited to multi storey buildings, the velta contec system can be installed
in;
Reinforced concrete cast in-situ slabs,
typically 200-400mm thick
Precast concrete units
Permanent formwork construction such as
Holorib decks
Walls
The many benefits
associated with the velta screed applications for heating and
cooling may be enjoyed with the velta contec system as well
as the following additional benefits;
Low installation costs – 30-50% savings
Low maintenance and operating costs – up
to 50% savings
Fast prefabricated construction technique
Can utilise floor, ceiling and wall surfaces
Low temperature water for heating – 25°C
– providing output up to 25W/m2
High temperature water for cooling – 16°C
– providing output up to 60W/m2
Use of renewable energy sources
Geothermal
Solar
Ground heat exchangers
Water sources
Cool night air
Transfer of peak loads – the high
thermal mass of the system allows peak loads to be absorbed
and transferred to periods of lower demand
The use of the velta
contec system must be considered in the early stages of a project
and technical
support provided to the design team, so that all the benefits
are achieved and the special design considerations appreciated
by the team. Ideal for use in;
Hospitals
Offices
Museums and galleries
Public areas
Universities
More than 1 million m2 installed in over 200 projects
